Design Manager - Main Contractor - Midlands

Our client are a £100m T/O Midlands Based Main Contractor and are looking to recruit a Design Manager to join a growing division of their business.
The Role
My client established this division of their business a couple of years ago and are now seeking to recruit a driven Design Manager who can grow into a more Senior position in time.
You will report into the business unit director and be responsible for overseeing the design process across multiple projects from pre construction stages through to delivery, ensuring all designs meet both client and regulatory requirements while maintaining efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
- You will collaborate closely with architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to develop and refine design concepts, ensuring they align with the project’s goals.
- Managing design teams, reviewing and approving design submissions, and coordinating between different disciplines to resolve design-related challenges.
- Monitor the project timeline and budget, identifying potential risks and implementing solutions to prevent delays or cost overruns.
- Ensure that all design documentation is accurate, up-to-date, and complies with relevant standards, regulations, and building codes.
- Act as the key liaison between the client, contractors, and design teams, addressing any concerns or requests, and ensuring seamless communication across all parties involved in the project.
- Throughout the design and construction phases, ensure that designs are feasible and practical for construction, providing guidance and support to construction teams when needed.
- Track design revisions and manages any changes to the scope, ensuring that alterations are reflected in project schedules and budgets
Requirements
- My client are looking for the right personality above everything else, they want drive and energy
- They are open to considering someone from a site background that may want to come off site e.g. Senior Engineer or PM
- Proven track record in the contracting market ideally with experience in student accomodation, PRS, Extra Care.
