Senior Bid Manager

Invision Recruitment are a proud recruitment partner of a top Main Contractor who are currently seeking to recruit a Bid Manager. They specialise in fast-track Design and Build projects, ranging from £15million to £30million. They are steel frame specialists and a majority of what they build is either new build Retail Parks or logistics/industrial warehouses within the E-Commerce sector, this particular sector is the biggest growth sector within the UK in Construction.

Role overview:

Responsible for identifying, managing, and submitting exemplary qualitative responses as well as manage the responses to invitations to tender, to secure new opportunities for the Company in line with the business plan.

Role Scope:

• Analyse client documentation and identify how to suitably answer questions posed, highlighting our USP / differentiators.
• Plan and secure timely contributors for submissions.
• Produce final bid documentation after allowing sufficient time for review/enhancement.

Key Results Areas: Delivery

• To write exemplary qualitative responses to secure new business for the Company in line with the business plan.
• Ensure timely information is produced for qualitative submissions.
• Write case studies for new projects and those with upcoming events and ensure they are kept up to date and highlight our USPs / differentiators.
• Assist in the preparation of post-tender interviews.
• Produce final documentation for submissions.
• Provide high quality, succinct information in plain English to assist in the selection of the Company as preferred partner / bidder.

Quality & Compliance

• To be aware of the Company’s adopted Health & Safety policies, taking particular care to outline the necessary information as well as our performance to potential partners / clients.
• Carry out quality client research.
• Maintain and improve existing material in submission library.
• Structure submission documents to exceed client expectations.
• Ensure compliance with client and / or bid requirements.

Collaboration

• Work closely with the pre-construction team and regional teams to ensure timely and accurate financial information is submitted.
• Liaise with the Marketing Coordinator to arrange photos for case studies.
• To promote the Company as the partner of choice to potential partners, clients, landowners and their agents.
• Plan and secure timely contributors for submissions.
• Deputise as required for the Business Development representative at handover meetings in order to obtain information about new projects awarded for the library of information.

Financial

• Maintain Leads database ensuring the correct contract sums are inserted.
• Ensure that any commercial information in the wider bid issued is accurate and up to date.

People Management

• Manage the New Business team, delegate and plan their workload.
• Work closely with pre-construction team and regional teams to ensure timely and accurate commercial information is submitted.
• Mentor trainees if required.

Success Measures:

• Achieve a minimum 90% ‘pass rate’ on SQs, Sifting Briefs and EOIs
• Achieve a quality score of 75% or higher on all bid submissions.
• All bids submitted on time

Skills, Experience and Attributes:

• Experience of writing PQQ and tender qualitative responses in the residential and affordable housing sector
• Must possess a can-do attitude and have the ability to provide high quality, succinct information in plain English to assist in the selection of the Company as preferred partner/bidder.
• Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to meet competing deadlines concurrently.
