Regional Engineer

My client is a major construction company with both a contracting and private sale offering who have a regional office near Didcot which covers the Thames Valley region. My client are looking to add a new position to their region, a Regional Engineer. 

My clients portfolio includes large mixed use developments, extra care facilities, traditional build housing and major regeneration projects. 

The Role 

Working as part of the Technical department, the Regional Engineer will provide engineering designs and support at all stages of the development process, from initial viability advice to design development, gaining technical consent and providing advice to project teams, commercial and project stakeholders. 

• Assess and appraise consultant’s designs for suitability and to ensure the designs are the most cost effective, compliant with legislation and practical.
• Have the ability to interpret geo-technical reports and make recommendations. Be capable of preparing initial site designs and constraints plans at an early stage.
• Fully understand the CDM regulations and demonstrate a working knowledge. Resolve engineering issues as part of planning application.
• Commission and manage consultants, for civil and structural designs, ensuring all information is available and competent for use in tendering, production and in the procurement of technical consents.
• Liaising with NHBC to ensure all appropriate standards pre-construction have been met, and throughout the project ensuring all conditional items are concluded satisfactorily.
• Securing all technical approvals necessary for a competent site start Ensure all engineering drawings and details are available and checked, in advance of start on site including foundations, sub- structure, highways, sewerage, utilities and any remediation proposals.
• Procure technical approval for highways / RCC / sewerage/ land drainage /utilities/ foul and surface water drainage/ any other relevant technical consents.
• Developing initial site designs and constraint plans
• Ensuring compliance with CDM regulations
• Resolving engineering challenges during planning applications
• Coordinating with external consultants and statutory bodies
• Adding value to projects and optimizing planning consent and engineering solutions
• Supporting the Design & Planning team in obtaining Building Warrants clearance

Requirements

• Extensive experience in engineering within the housebuilding industry
• Ability to conduct civil engineering design and assess external designs
• Thorough understanding of technical and regulatory requirements
• Interpretation of geotechnical and environmental reports
• Track record of producing technical site appraisals and securing approvals
• Familiarity with ground conditions assessment and remediation techniques
• Capacity to work under tight deadlines and prioritize tasks effectively
• Proven negotiation skills for technical approvals
• Awareness of value creation through design and business impacts
• Established relationships within the engineering community
