My Client is a multidisciplinary main contractor that excels in the delivery of construction projects on a national scale. Formed in 1995, they are privately owned, and this year will turn over in excess of £700 million for a growing list of blue-chip clients. They are widely known as one of the UK’s leading ‘shed’ specialist, delivering millions of square feet every year for the industrial and distribution sector. Due to expansion in southern England, they are currently recruiting for a number of projects managers to lead schemes from £10m - £20m in value.

The Project

£15million Industrial and Logistics Facility   

They are looking for an established standalone Project Manager to manage this scheme from inception to completion. Responsible for aspects of pre-construction including design development, Cost, Engineering and procurement management strategies whilst insuring the safe delivery and execution of works on site Construction of a 150,000 Sq Ft single storey warehouse/production unit together with two storey offices with a ground floor reception. External site works are to include hardstanding’s for service yard and HGV Parking, car parking, plot road, landscaping and drainage, the warehouse building consists of a structural steel multi span portal frame having a clear height to the underside of haunch of 12m and alternate valley columns, internal concrete floor slab.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the Construction Director / Contracts Manager / Managing QS to plan the project effectively, by ensuring that the project requirements, specification, design drawings and HSEQ procedures are understood and agreed and that a project programme is in place.
  • Understanding the Client’s needs from the outset, what is important to them and manage their expectation throughout the project.
  • Responsible for the programming and monitoring of the works.
  • Ensuring the procurement meets budget and programme.
  • Ensuring that good sound construction procedures are being used on site/specification needs.
  • Responsible for the upkeep and quality of the works.
  • Liaise daily with the site team regarding all planned works / site issues.
  • Ensure safety to public, site visitors and staff on site at all times, ensuring that preventative measures are taken.
  • Liaising with clients to report progress and building a good client relationship.
  • Liaising with design team and issuing / monitoring design information.
  • Ensuring that as-built drawings are kept, CVI’s, RFI’s and also ensuring that the individual knows why we do them.
  • Ensure that staff are right for the job, monitor people who are not known to ensure they get on satisfactorily.
  • Lead and develop the project team.
  • Motivating the workforce and building team spirit.
  • Provide weekly updates to the Directors and Senior Management
  • Mentoring of trainees
  • Prevention and identification of fraud/potential fraud

Qualifications:

  • Relevant Project Management experience Within the Industrial Arena
  • HNC / HND / Degree in Construction Management
  • SMSTS CSCS card (management level)
